What is there to eat in Taiwan? That’s a good question. When you get an answer, let me know.

What is there to eat in Taiwan? That’s a good question. When you get an answer, let me know.
I ask, “What is good to eat near my apartment?” and I’m told, “There’s a McDonald’s just a short cab ride away.” I say, “That’s great but what is good to eat near my apartment?”. We go round and round like this for awhile.
I have found some decent food near the apartment but nothing that I can eat day after day.
There’s the Yakiniku place across the street, that’s a Japanese version of Korean Barbq (confusing I know, but very tasty). Its pretty good food but its very rich and a bit pricey by Taiwan standards.
We also feature the E.Z. Con restaurant. It’s a very nice looking place, probably been around less than a year. They feature a very diverse menu of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and some American style foods. It’s decently priced (I think) and dinner comes w a drink and a pudding for desert. I seem to order the “Korean stone bowl w Pork”, or Bibimbap for those who know Korean food at all. Word of advise, don’t try to order it as Bibimbap, they won’t know what you’re saying.
I stumbled upon a Japanese place in my wondering and thought that, even with my limited Japanese, I’d have an easier time ordering. Wrong and wrong. Not a soul in the place spoke any Japanese! One girl could sorta pronounce the names of the different food they offered. We figured it out and it was decent food at a good price.

Seriously tho, I’m doing fine. As most who me can attest, I can eat nearly anything and a lot of it. Wish me luck as I stumble into a truly Chinese restaurant and eat what they put in front of me.

Pitching tomorrow night on the road. They’re asking for 4 or 5 innings so wish me luck.

The passport is getting pretty full, I’ve just added Taiwan to the list of places I’ve thrown a baseball for monetary compensation.

Pitched two innings in a game versus Mainland China’s oldest baseball team. They don’t rival the Yankees, Cubs or Red Sox, in terms of age, by any means. Probably closer to Rockies or Marlins. Either way, it was a good first game to shake off the rust of an offseason spent as far from baseball as I could.

Scheduled to pitch again in a week, March 7th. I think they’re looking for 4 innings from me. League games start the 17th, so there’s no time to waste.
